What this country needs is more unemployment. Americans, being overworked and often holding down two or three jobs just to make ends meet or give their children the opportunities that will behoove them later in life, do not have time to critically investigate political ideas and methodology even if they cared to do so. I believe the recent disenchantment with the power structures in place over the past four decades has come to fore as a result of the massive loss off employment following the great crash of 2008. The resulting added time has enabled the disaffected to catch up on the shenanigans of the political power class and they are not happy with what they have discovered. The seeking of alternative ways and means that would shift economic clout in a downward and more inclusive direction has led to the populist candidacies of both Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump.
At least there is movement afoot, albeit based on either altruistic or the more base emotions largely xenaphobic in nature. A classical breif economic downturn would not have engendered such ire.
Most processes in nature and human interactions are self-correcting ensuring future continuance of order. Hopefully and in timely manner, our corrective path will be a comprehensive shift toward a level playing field for all.
