Despite the fact that the book won’t be out until July 7th, a review of Long Story Short: Turning Famous Books into Cartoons has just been posted by Kirkus Reviews! Check it out here and pre-order the book here. After all, Kirkus has been around since the 1930s and would never steer you wrong. Dig it.

Best of luck with the book, Dwayne ! But who are the other artists with whom you have collaborated on it ?
Henri
Hey Henri – the other people are some cartoonist/artist friends and their friends. I pitched the idea to my publisher in 2013, but never found the bandwidth to do it all by myself. When the publisher asked me about it again in 2018 I said I’d edit it and get other people to contribute because I was still busy with other Fish things more pressing. He agreed, but when I reached out to other artists, they had a tough time coming up with renderings that went as deep as I wanted. Lots of frivolous and gag-driven drawings came in and were denied. Even Robert Crumb and Art Spiegelman couldn’t come up with anything I could use, so I ended up doing the overwhelming majority of the images in the book.
