  1. Jihadism is a term used to describe militant Islamic movements that are seen as a threat to the West. It’s a recent term that lacks a single, widely accepted definition. Some of the characteristics of jihadism include:

Religious violence: Jihadism is a form of religious violence that’s based on the Islamic concept of lesser jihad.

Goal of an Islamic state: Jihadist groups aim to establish an Islamic state governed by Sharia law, and reject democracy.

Loyalty to God: Jihadists believe they are loyal to God alone, not to leaders or states.

Use of violence: Jihadists justify the use of violence by referring to the classical Islamic doctrine of jihad, which is interpreted as religiously sanctioned warfare.

Sub-set of Salafism: Jihadism is a subset of Salafism, a revivalist Sunni movement.

Some examples of jihadist groups include al-Qaeda and the Islamic State, Hamas, Hizbollah and Irans current government alligned to destroy Israel
