Now, I’m in the camp who thinks that we ought to wind down these wars, that we’ve got more important things to do. My only problem with Trump’s decision is that, like so many of Trump’s decisions, it’s done impetuously, overnight, not having been thought through, not having been coordinated. Yes, let’s get out of Syria, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have a policy with respect to the civil war in Syria. I think that the way Trump is approaching this thing, we don’t have any policy. And that’s going to be a problem.
The rest of the Bacevich interview is worth reading.

  2. Those be comical titles.

  3. The amazing thing – to observers lacking experience of US politics – is that when Mr Trump for once appears (his actions are notoriously difficult to interpret) to do something right – i e, withdraw US troops from the illegal invasion of Syria and draw down a bit in Afghanistan, instead of, e g, strating a new shooting war somewhere in Asia – the whole political establishment rises in fury and disbelief. Almost beyond satire….

  4. The U.S. Government is shutting down – praise Jesus on a stick! The Witch is dead and it’s all Kabuki Theater and 4D chess to keep the masses in suspended animation. G*d bless the United States of Yahweh.

  5. Euro-suckers should have backed away from US leadership when George W. Bush cooked up a scam for the invasion of Iraq with Tony Blair.

Maybe the Euro-suckers will at last awaken to the absurdity of following the US lead during the reign of Trump.

And that would be a good thing.

The sooner the better that someone recognizes that the emperor has no clothes.

  6. The President is doing something correct this week by withdrawing US troops from Syria and hopefully Afghanistan. I will believe it when it happens. But my so called liberal friends have gone whack and become full on chickenhawk like the ones they use to despise. I applaud any US President that withdraws US troops from anywhere around the planet. The President is going up against the borg, which is dangerous. Remember what happened in Dallas in 1963.

  7. That pretty much covers all the dust in this misprint volume…
