After the ANC gained power in 1994, many in the ANC party wanted to attack and kill the whites in revenge. Considering over 90% of S.A. is black, the small minority of whites would have stood no chance. It was Mandela that convinced the ANC party members to be peaceful. Even the racist elite whites I know in S.A. show appreciation to Mandela for this.
Isn’t it the case that in many US states, ex-cons are automatically and permanently disenfranchised ? Better check Mr Mandela’s record next time he approaches a polling place !…

Ex-felons are disenfranchised in 13 states. That may soon change, but in my state it require amending the state Constitution to do it.
