  1. Hmmmmm, where have I seen this kind of thing before? I simply can’t remember. Must be some unimportant lesson from the not too distant past, but I seem to have forgotten. Willfully. I’ll just keep taking orders instead of questioning authority. Willfully.

Fish, this piece is so stunning, so visceral, so very, very frightening in it’s stark boldness, I can only thank you. Keep chucking stones, brother. This one rippled right back to my toes. Ouch.

  2. Nice one!

  3. I believe this sort of thing is now termed «R2P»….

  5. Forgot this.

And for all the mass murder committed at Kunduz, Dick Cheney still let the evil shits at the top go free.

I write about a key incident in 2001, when Cheney cleared a secret Pakistani airlift of ISI personnel from Kunduz who had been helping the Taliban and who were stuck in northern Afghanistan. That was a big plus for Musharraf with the army–that he could get the Americans to save the lives of ISI personnel even in the midst of the U.S. attack on Afghanistan. And when Musharraf held a rigged referendum to become president in 2002, followed by rigged elections, the Americans did not say a word.

Maybe that’s how it supposed to work, in the upper echelons of war criminal world.

  6. How much American–style humanitarian aid will the world tolerate?

“Everything was under the control of the American commanders,” a Northern Alliance soldier tells Doran

“One Afghan trucker, forced to drive one such container, says that the prisoners began to beg for air. Northern Alliance commanders “told us to stop the trucks, and we came down. After that, they shot into the containers [to make air holes]. Blood came pouring out. They were screaming inside.” Another driver in the convoy estimates that an average of 150 to 160 people died in each container.”
