It’s frequently said that if you don’t vote you shouldn’t complain.

I say that if voting could fix anything why is there always so much more stuff to complain about?

The reality is that whether 90%, 50%, or 5% of the people vote, you are not going to get representation if you aren’t voting in the money primaries of the duopoly.

Women didn’t vote themselves the vote, and slaves didn’t vote themselves free, and labor didn’t vote themselves unions.

The reality is much harsher than the voting public can wrap their cognitive faculties around, and it occupies a blind spot for most people.

Face the truth. Forget voting and go for direct action if you want to change anything. Forget them before they get their chance to forget you while you’re still patting yourself on the back for your quadrennial demonstration of good sucker citizenship.

Since there is no “none of the above” option on the ballot, and the two parties block third parties from winning, I always vote for the smartest, most honest name on the ballot that, in realty, has no chance of winning or changing anything.

  2. “If you are bored and disgusted by politics and don’t bother to vote, you are in effect voting for the entrenched Establishments of the two major parties, who please rest assured are not dumb, and who are keenly aware that it is in their interests to keep you disgusted and bored and cynical and to give you every possible reason to stay at home doing one-hitters and watching MTV on primary day. By all means stay home if you want, but don’t bullshit yourself that you’re not voting. In reality, there is no such thing as not voting: you either vote by voting, or you vote by staying home and tacitly doubling the value of some Diehard’s vote.”

  3. It is said, not without cynicism, that a people gets the government it deserves. There may be a modicum of truth in that observation – but what the hell did those of us in the rest of the world do to deserve the US government – fronted by either Mr Obama or Mr Romney – that is due to take office on 20 January next year ?…

  4. Couldn’t have drawn it better myself, no, I really couldn’t have.
Can’t vote for him again, I just….can’t….do…it. Just one time before I die. Consider a bucket list wish. I would like to vote my conscience and that sure ain’t Romney either.

  5. priceless ….. and …. so ….. sad….

  6. Obama’s new 2012 campaign slogan:

    Shit Happens. Get Over It.

  7. Fish: Care to tell us who gets your vote this time? I can say i voted Obama last time.
If not for the drones, guantanemo, lack of CIA torture investigations, deportations,…i could forgive the sellout to wall st on health care, forgetting about the economy til year 3, being a pussy leader. And after he authorized the killing of an american via drone i wrote i would not vote obama.

But where are we? What do we have? Fortunately, in California, a truly safe Obama state, i could sit home. oy…

    thanks
