  1. This reminds me of my uncle.

  2. No point in holding back. This country is a nightmare, inside a lunatic world.

    1. Sadly, too true!

What’s so funny ‘bout peace love and understanding?
That seemingly simple question being asked by Elvis Costello and The Attractions (lyrics by Nick Lowe) since the early 70’s is now tragically rhetorical.

But, Mr. Fish asks that same question in a searingly pointed way with every piece of art and political commentary he does. We need him. We need his voice and his clarity more than ever. And he is delivering.

The extra gut punch by The Supreme Court choosing to take on the vastly undemocratic case of “voting rights” based on a far right wing interpretation of the constitution is just another indicator of the coup we are watching happen unchecked and applauded by the nationalist movement, right here in free Amurika. That movement is much stronger than we know. But, it scares the living shit out of me.

      PUSH, SUPREME LEADERS, PUSH!

      1. 50 years of repeating that song lyric. Have you come any closer to an answer? Do you really care to figure it out? or do you just like to repeat it out loud in a kind of ritualistic public virtue signaling? we get it, you feel bad. Now what are you gonna do about it?

        1. You seem to have a lot of questions for me about my “real vs virtual” life.

So in this virtual space, let’s just both be real with each other, if only for a few less stressful moments. Because, honestly, this continued attacking of my character, humanity, intelligence level, integrity, caring, activism, political leanings and on and on are pointless! You don’t really want an answer. But you do want to make a point about me for some reason. I honestly don’t know how it serves you.

Unfortunately, the reality of what this last few days of threads focusing on me are that they have been hurtful. That’s real. That’s human and that’s me taking a huge risk of being shredded yet again. I have been hooked into playing the social media game with you and a few select others and now I remember why I literally do not comment anywhere else.

The diversion to the lowest form of attempted conversation into personal attacks is literally why I don’t do Facebook or Twitter or Instagram or any social media. I get hooked into not remembering that there is a very real person on the other side of the hypnotic shiny device I may be using to be on the attack. I am uncomfortable with the process of dehumanization that takes place. And I am just as guilty of doing it too. Shame on me!

One of the simplest reasons may be that I might be much older than you and the other haters. Is that still an appropriate moniker? (That was an attempt at a little humor.) I grew up in the 60’s and have not adapted well to this newest form of communication. I prefer actual human contact and eye to eye conversations. That’s me being honest. It’s not meant as an excuse, I clearly need to do better if I am going to respond to other peoples comments.

I will take full responsibility for my part in participating in this exercise of contempt. But I think I’m done now. It’s really toxic and unhealthy for me. That’s me attempting to be vulnerable with you. And honest, again.

Nothing we “say” to each other in this particular tone virtually will affect positive change in reality.

So where can we all find common ground? Can we at least agree that I am as human as you are? You don’t need to give me any more credit than that. Just that I am not an algorithm. I am just as human as you are. Fair?

We truly know only one thing about each other, we both like Mr. Fish’s work, we all are here because we love what he is bringing to the world. Can we focus on that? Can we focus on solutions to the existential threats we are all trying to navigate through while staying semi-sane and compassionate at the same time?

What’s so funny ‘bout peace, love and understanding? Not asking for my own glorification, but sincerely asking why the world can’t be a better place, knowing full well that wanting that means personal positive action not hyperbole. I take that seriously but I’m not here to prove myself to anybody. I’m a human Fish fan.

Olive branch, Jack Lacan? (And to the few other Fish fans who have taken a clear dislike for any of my comments. Olive branch?)

          1. Never questioned your humanity, just some of your opinions and world view. Apologies for causing pain. We’re all anxious, angry and powerless, trying to find a way to cope. If yours is shouting into the void of online comment sections, I’ll leave you to it without any further replies. Peace.

          2. Thank you for being awesome! Saw your kids having kids Push! art on Reddit and it has a string of comments and had been screen captured with some overlap so I had to figure out who you were because you know what’s up and that’s good stuff being able to find art with purpose.

I guess one of your fans posted Push in a Wichita Kansas community post due to the issue with Roe v Wade they are having a fit over your art because they can’t face the reality of their choices.

            Thank you for being you.

  3. Don’t hold back! Holy fuck! So goddamned disturbing because it’s true!

Where is your Nobel Peace Prize? You’ve deserved one for so damned long.

You have upped the ante with this piece. Bravo. Absolutely jarring!

    Much love, peace and understanding,
    The Poison Pill
